Guided Tour
(Twin room accommodation 4 and 5 stars hotels)
2019
Day 1 Lisboa
Today we will be waiting for you at Lisbon International Airport. You we’ll be transferred to the 4- or 5-star hotel in the center. You can leave your luggage and enjoy a wonderful Jacuzzi or pool. On this first day, we have the rental agreements and the first contact with the motorcycles. The dinner will be in a fabulous restaurant in the center, with typical Portuguese food, and of course with a special red wine from the Douro Valley.
Day 2 Lisboa - Marvão (300 km)
After preparing the motorcycles we leave Lisbon at 9.30, by the famous "25 de Abril" bridge - our "Golden Gate Bridge"- and follow the track to the Arrabida natural park, where we can see the convent more than 400 years old, where the Franciscan monks lived in the 16th century. At the end of this spectacular mountain, we’ll enjoy a short ferry crossing (45 minutes) on the river Sado. Here is a family of 28 wild dolphins. Sometimes on this crossing, and if we are lucky, dolphins stay near our boat. After crossing the river Sado, we get the route of the Moorish castles, all of them were built between the 9th and 12th century in Arraiolos, Avis, Alter do Chão, and Crato. We’ll end the day in the Marvão fortified village on top of a 850 meters high mountain, border with Spain. This village is inside a beautiful Moorish castle from the 10th century, with only 500 inhabitants. The hotel has the best view of the entire fortress.
Day 3 Marvão - Monsaraz (300 km)
After a tasty breakfast in this small medieval village we’ll visit one of the largest fortified cities in the world, Elvas. Along the Spanish border, this city was known as the "Queen Border". After Elvas we will have the opportunity to see another wonderful castle, in Juromenha village, on the Spanish border. This wonderful fortress was also conquered by the Moors during the 12th century. We’ll travel through the most beautiful plains of Alentejo before we stop in Évora for lunch. On the way, we can see the Vila Viçosa palace, where the last kings of Portugal lived in the 19th century. The day ends at the castle of Monsaraz, after crossing the largest artificial lake in Europe, the lake of Alqueva.
Day 4 Marvão- Sagres (350 km)
One more day waking up inside the castle walls, with the big lake all around us. Very special. This day is the longest, takes us to the west coast, by the sea, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea. The new Aldeia da Luz village on the east coast of Alqueva Lake, (the old village with the same name is now submerged), is part of the history of this day. Serpa, Mertola and Silves, are all villages with glorious castles with more than 900 years old that we can appreciate during this long day. Almost arriving to Algarve region, we will have the road with the most beautiful curves of Portugal. The famous N2 road, which has 352 curves, is real driving pleasure. When we reach Sagres, at the end of the day, we can see the spectacular sunset at Cabo São Vicente. In this fishing village of Sagres we recommend a beautiful fish for dinner.
Day 5 Sagres- Lisboa (325 km)
The return to Lisbon is always along the west coast, with the Atlantic Ocean on our left side. The wild beaches, but all with access by fine roads, must be visited during this day. As on day 2, we cross the river Sado, again on the ferry, and on the other side we are waiting for you on our motorcycle, driving with you to Lisboa. We are in Lisbon at 6:00 p.m., to deliver the motorcycles.
Day 6 Departure day Lisboa
Today is the last day of your journey. We’ll enjoy a pleasant Lisbon walking tour, with a private guide. He will tell you our history with more than 2000 years old, on the visit of the of São Jorge Castle. The return to the airport is in a private transfer.
