DAY 1 LUANG PRABANG – VANG VEING (230 KM)

We will begin the riding on paved roads from Luang Prabang to Vang Veing. This route has one of the most exquisite roads in Laos. The road winds and curves for miles, which makes for a marvelous riding experience. You will also go through local villages along the Kasi Pass, where you can see the front door of homes perched right along the edge of the road before the mountains drop off into picturesque valleys below.

DAY 2 VANG VIENG – PHONSAVAN (170KM)

Today we will be on the road all day, passing through one of the most secret places on earth: Long Cheng LS20A. When we get there, you will get to visit the popular Plains of Jars archeological site. Archeologists have recently discovered human remains at the Plain of Jars that are thought to be roughly 2,500 years old.

DAY 3 PHONSAVAN – VIENG THONG (250KM)

Today is another full riding day on dirt roads, winding up through the mountains north of Phonsavan. We will make a small detour to Lima Site 36 before ending the day at the natural hot springs at Veing Thong. Vieng Thong is the gateway to the Nam Et-Phou Louey national protected area, one of the last natural habitat for tigers in Indochina.

DAY 4 VIENG THONG – NONG KHIAW (244KM)

Ride along beautiful interesting roads today to the idyllic riverside town of Nong Khiaw, situated along the Nam Ou River. We will also visit an ethnic group residing on a hilltop nearby.

DAY 5 NONG KHIAW – MUANG KHUA (120KM)

You will pick up on your route up to Muang Khua the following morning. This town is in the Phonsaly province, and it represents the origins to the Akha people. Living at a high altitude in the mountains of Laos, the Akha ethnic group wear some of the most elaborate and colorful clothes. This route features some thrilling and mysterious single-track routes for an unforgettable adventure.

DAY 6 MUANG KHUA – BOUNTHAI (180KM)

Carrying on from the day before, we will ride out to the local Akha village of Bounthai. You will be invited into the home of a local family for an unforgettable home stay experience. The family will serve traditional meals for dinner and breakfast, and you will gain a deep understanding and insight into the culture and remarkable history of the Akha people.

DAY 7 BOUNTHAI – LUANG NAMTHA (150KM)

After enjoying a freshly-prepared meal for breakfast, we will take the bikes through the scenic countryside to Luang Namtha. This route features some breathtaking landscapes along the way. If you arrive at Luang Namtha early, you can wander through their two bustling markets, or take a boat ride along the Namtha River.

DAY 8 LUANG NAMTHA – PAKBENG (200KM)

Today you will embark toward Pakbeng along winding, dirt roads. You will travel through a number of remote villages in this region. Pakbeng is a remarkable village with a temple on top of the hills that dates back to the Kingdom of Lanna. Your day ends in Pakbeng with an overnight stay at a local lodge.

DAY 9 PAKBENG – HONGSA – SAYABOURI (178KM)

As the sun rises, you will head out form Pakbeng to Hongsa, another small village with a bustling market. You will stay for a quick meal before caring on toward Sayabouri. Once you arrive at Sayabouri, you will be accommodated at the Elephant Conservation Center. Here you can choose to ride, feed, bathe, or befriend these gentle giants. A trip to Laos would not be complete without getting up close and personal with an elephant. You can also visit their medical centre to learn more about Lao elephants.

DAY 10 SAYABOURI – LUANG PRABANG (200KM)

This is our final day! Enjoy Elephant conservation Center activities in the morning, maybe take some mahout lessons and visit the medical center. We will depart from Saybouri toward Luang Prabang. The terrain will consist of dusty roads along stunning farmlands and fields of teak trees. At the end of the day, we will reach Luang Prabang.
